SPYS’ Focus on Our Families Experience℠ Network is a constellation of individuals, organizations, and businesses offering experiences using what SPYS calls our Smart, Fair, and Loving Approach℠ to youth and their families in the fields of athletics, the arts, health & wellness, culture, science and history across all SPYS programs – at no charge.
Minnesota Timberwolves MLK Day Game & SPYS’ NBA Recognition Game and Black History Month Celebration Game
With the partnership with the NBA Foundation and the Minnesota Timberwolves, SPYS kicked off the 2024 Experience with tickets to the Minnesota Timberwolves MLK Day Game & SPYS’ NBA Recognition Game on Sunday, Jan 14th and to the Black History Month Celebration Game on Friday, Feb 2nd. In just two events, we impacted nearly 400 community members.
Feedback from our youth and their families:
Two families in our Pre-Charge Diversion program, both who are experiencing housing crises, told SPYS’ staff how wonderful it was to have a chance to just be together as a family, with a break from the day-to-day stress of applying for housing.
Dozens of young people told our staff how fun it was to do something positive and different, and immediately asked “what are we doing next!?”
A group of high school students said that it was good to have something else to do instead of “smoking and fighting all night.”
Parents told SPYS how relieved they were to know that youth could attend activities safely with trusted staff.
